The Fat Cow and Oyster Bar (Winner of 2 Golden Plate Awards for best new restaurant and 2nd place for top restaurant outside of Vancouver) invites you to experience Langley’s growing little secret. We are located off the beaten path. While heading up 200th Street in Langley BC don’t blink or you may miss us. We are located on the right side of the road in a orange strip mall on the corner of 96th.

Once you step through our doors you will forget you are in Langley with warm natural wood tables, brick and heritage wood finishing’s you will be transported downtown.

With our philosophy on locally sourced and ethically raised product as well as sustainable seafood.

The food is presented in a non pretentious manner letting the natural flavours speak for themselves. Our drive to support local farmers and local producers overflows onto our wine + beer list. Whether it is one of our 16 rotating taps or a craft beer by the bottle we will have something to satisfy every beer-dy out there.

The Fat Cow is open Tuesday – Friday for lunch and dinner starting at 11am and on Saturdays for Dinner starting at 5pm

Leading the Herd, Chef Christopher Roper’s approach to cooking is simple: Use quality ingredients and cook them with classic techniques so that they are able to speak for themselves. Christopher’s passion and goal is to create the kind of dishes that you would proudly share with friends.

Langley born and Raised, Christopher comes from a corporate background that turned into a passion for food and the industry. It began with finishing his Red Seal under some amazing local chefs to helping open up and rebrand some great local eateries such as Uli’s, in White Rock. The Vault, in Cloverdale and Lava Dining and Lounge in Maple Ridge

Now Christopher can be found heading up his open concept kitchen, at The Fat Cow and Oyster Bar here in Langley. Or cruising around the dining room in his flip flops making sure every one is Happy, have full bellies and are well hydrated.

Emmy Roper

General Manager

Emmy was born and raised in the Fraser Valley, training as a professional dancer. Emmy danced for the Vancouver Grizzlies and the Queen of England before starting a career in the restaurant industry. Emmy is fairly new to the restaurant industry, starting in 2008.

Her first restaurant job was where she met her husband Chris
Roper. As she excelled at Every position she was thrown into it wasn’t long before she was running the restaurant on her own. In 2012 she co-opened The Fat Cow and Oyster Bar and seamlessly took over roll as General Manager.

Emmy is passionate about food, wine, and being able to raise her family doing something she loves.
When you come to The Fat Cow you will see the love and expertise spill out into the dining room with the team she has trained and assembled to offer an extraordinary experience here in the Valley

Christina Sobrepena

Christina Sobrepena

Events Manager

Christina joins the team at The Black Radish Catering Co. with ten years of experience working in special events, public relations and marketing. She has worked on many successful campaigns for companies including Starbucks, Warner Bros. Pictures and FIDO, but fell in love with planning major events during her time as a Marketing and Events Specialist at Vancouver Magazine.

While there she managed several high profile events with some of Western Canada’s biggest names in the culinary game including Rob Feenie and Vikram Vij. She knows what it takes to come up with the perfect menu and ultimately deliver fun and memorable events for all of our clients. On her free time she mentors aspiring event planners, loves cooking for her family and can often be found frequenting local cafes looking for the perfect cup of coffee.
